Back in balance and feeling great thanks to some Emmett therapy
What an improvement, I mean WOW! Nothing prepared me for the results of the Emmett therapy that I recently received from Susanne De Bono of All Degrees of Health who specialises in Emmett therapy and massage.
I am 57 years “young” and have always looked after myself by keeping physically and mentally active and eating sensibly. My back problems started when I was 13. My favourite sport was long jumping. One day, my ego got the better of me. I broke the long jumping record whilst participating in the school sports day. It was the beginning of a life time of many “bad back and/or neck” episodes. Over the years, I have visited various chiropractors, a stint with a physiotherapist and then an osteopath and had a massage from time to time. To be fair, all have helped. I suppose you would call them all a kind of band aid treatment for my condition, however I had reached a stage, particularly with regard to my neck, that I no longer wished to experience the pain and discomfort of having my body painfully yanked, stretched and tossed around a massage table!
To say “I was a walking wreck” when I presented myself to Susanne, is probably an understatement! When Susanne asked me where the pain was, I realised that most of my body was aching. I had been experiencing headaches on and off for about 2 weeks, my neck ached, I had pain radiating down my arms, my shoulder blades throbbed, one side of my lower back felt lop-sided and the pain was radiating down my legs. I was having difficulty sleeping at night because I couldn’t lie in one spot for long. My head felt kind of “fuzzy” and I felt my thought processes had deteriorated which I figured was probably due to a lack of oxygen flowing to my brain plus the lack of sleep!
Susanne asked me how she could help me and my response was …. “I am in so much discomfort, that I am going to leave it up to you to do what you think is best!” Susanne quickly realised that I was in serious need of a “body alignment”. She started with a massage to relax and loosen the muscles in my back and neck and then performed some Emmett therapy. What surprised me was that even though I was experiencing constant pain, the Emmett movements Susanne carried out on me for approximately half an hour didn’t hurt at all. In fact, this probably sounds corny, but I could feel myself healing whilst lying on the massage table and as soon as I stood up, my body felt lighter and the movement in my neck felt surprisingly smoother!
Over the next week, I felt lighter and brighter. I did experience a little pain in my shoulder blades and neck and around my abdomen and the hip area for a couple of days, but none in my lower back, no headaches and no pain radiating down my arms or my legs from the moment I eased myself off the massage table. Probably what I need to add here is that the pain I did feel for those couple of days after the Emmett therapy can only be described as a healing kind of pain and certainly not the dull, relentless aching pain that I had been experiencing for weeks. I decided to return 10 days later for a “top up” with instructions to Susanne to “just repeat what you did 10 days ago”!
I continue to improve. I am not perfect [realistically I may never be], but I would estimate at this stage that I am perhaps 75% better compared to what I was before my first Emmett experience, which for all intents and purposes, an experience I consider a minor miracle! Going forward, I’m planning to visit Susanne in another 4 weeks for a tune up and then assess my condition and shall definitely consider some kind of regular maintenance program. My physical future is looking much brighter.
Susanne…. Thank you so much.
With the kindest of regards
